Two-post hoist balancing (or equalization) cables keep the carriage and lift arms synchronized, ensuring the vehicle stays level during operation. They don't bear the load, but they are critical for safety. If your cables are frayed, stretched, or you cannot adjust them further, you need to replace them.

If your lift's locking latches aren't clicking simultaneously, your cables most likely need adjusting. 

  • Lower and Lock: Lower the unloaded lift onto its primary mechanical locks.
  • Access Adjusters: Locate the threaded adjustment nuts, typically positioned at the top of the lift columns or underneath the carriage.
  • Tighten: Hold the cable firmly to prevent twisting (using vice grips or wrenches) and adjust the nuts to bring the slower or lower side into alignment.
  • Test Timing: Run the lift up and listen to ensure both carriages click onto their locks at the exact same time
